These diets were intended to be just that, diets. They were intended for weight loss. As with all weight loss programs, they had mixed success. Not every metabolism is the same, not everyone has the same willpower or tolerance for eating the foods and sticking the regimen. However, as a side effect, many people found that while they didn't lose as much weight as they hoped, they found that they felt much better, and that their skin was much clearer. This has given more credence to the idea that when it comes to acne, what goes on inside is more important that what goes on outside.
These two elements are said to be capable of keeping one's skin clean. They can eliminate skin oil, which is but one of the main causes of acne. To try these homemade acne remedies, just buy a soap that is glycerin-based, or a cleanser that is sorbitol-based.
If your acne is deeper and more persistent, a treatment needs to be designed to effectively reduce the production of sebum. This is the oil that is believed to be responsible for most acne conditions. This treatment approach would be an effective way of preventing the acne from getting worse and possibly even stopping it altogether. One prescription for achieving this is called isotretinoin (e.g. Accutane), a Vitamin A based treatment. It will only be prescribed by a doctor if the acne is severe and persistent, and is not suitable for anybody with liver problems.
